O'CONNELL
FEARED FOR SECURITY OF ROMIJN'S RING
Actor
JERRY O'CONNELL was petrified in the days before he proposed to his
fiancee REBECCA ROMIJN, because he feared somebody would rob him of
the expensive ring he bought for her.
The
KANGAROO JACK star spent a small fortune on a diamond ring for the
blonde beauty ahead of asking for her hand in marriage last month
(SEP05).
And
he admits keeping the ring secure was as nerve wracking as the proposal
itself.
O'Connell
says, "I bought a car and that's a big cheque, but it's a car
and you get an alarm and you get a lo-jack and you get the club and
you're able to protect it. And you only park it where someone can
watch it under a light.
"I
bought an apartment, that was a big cheque, and you get to lock the
door and there's a gate.
"But
a ring is like something you just have in your pocket, man. The only
security you have is like your jeans. And when I would have that in
my pocket - and I carried it around for a couple weeks - it was all
I could think about."

O'CONNELL
SHOCKED BY DIAMOND PRICES
JERRY
O'CONNELL was so shocked by the price of diamonds when he was hunting
for an engagement ring for his fiancee REBECCA ROMIJN, he was tempted
to buy her a cubic zirconia instead.
The
KANGAROO JACK star proposed to blonde beauty Romijn last month (SEP05),
and handed her a stunning diamond ring after she accepted. But he
admits that he'd have happily settled for a cheaper gem, because he
knows so little about jewellery.
He
says, "The scariest part is getting the ring, because I have
never bought a piece of bling in my life. First of all, I never realised
how expensive jewellery is. It's really expensive!
"And
then you learn the different stones. There's diamonds, which are everybody's
best fried. But I learned what a cubic zirconia is, abbreviated as
CZ. And I was like, 'Wow, look at all these jewels, this is amazing!
What's that big one there?' They were like, 'Oh, that's CZ - cubic
zirconia.' And I was like, 'How much is that one?' They were like,
'Substantially less.' I was like, 'Well, what's wrong with those?'
"It's
not a diamond, though - and if you get caught you're busted! You can't
get busted with CZ. Now if I were a rapper and I had to have a lot
of jewels for work, I'd have CZ all over me."

O'CONNELL
FEARED PUBLIC REJECTION FROM ROMIJN
Actor
JERRY O'CONNELL ditched his initial plan to propose to his fiancee
REBECCA ROMIJN in a sports stadium, because he feared getting rejected
before thousands of spectators.
The
KANGAROO JACK star asked Romijn for her hand in marriage earlier this
month (SEP05) in the New York City apartment he grew up in, after
abandoning plans for a more grand proposal.
He
says, "It's kind of scary because you're popping the question,
it's like a pop quiz, it's a surprise question. So when (I was) first
planning it I was like, 'I'm gonna do it at a baseball game, I'm gonna
do it at a Yankees game or Rebecca's from Berkeley, do it in Oakland.'
"And
then you realise, because you're popping the question, what if your
significant other says no in front of 50,000 people? So I (opted)
to do it very privately where if no happened I would be the only one
who knew about it. It was just the two of us."

JERRY
AND REBECCA ROMIJN ANNOUNCE THEIR ENGAGEMENT
9/23/05
Congratulations
to Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn, who announced their engagement
earlier this week. Reports that the announcement was made on the anniversary
of Rebecca's marriage to John Stamos are true, but the timing was purely
coincidental. According to a post
made in the Jerry O'Connell Fan Forum, Jerry proposed on the weekend
of the 18th with no idea that it was the day before Rebecca & John's
anniversary. News quickly spread and the couple was forced to come out
with a public statement on the 19th.
This was the
breaking news story printed in the October 3rd 2005 issue of Us Magazine:
Us Weekly

Jerry
& Rebecca: They're Engaged!
She split
with ex-husband John Stamos just last year, but supermodel Rebecca
Romijn is ready to love again! As Us Weekly first reported, Romijn,
32, and boyfriend of one year Jerry O'Connell, 31, are engaged. "Jerry
popped the question over the weekend [of September 17]," a source
close to the couple tells Hot Stuff. (The engagement news was confirmed
by her publicist.) The Crossing Jordan star asked for Romijn's hand
at his family's NYC apartment. The insider adds, "They've only
told their closest family members and friends." (As for all the
baby rumors swirling, the source insists, "She is not pregnant!")
On September 19, O'Connell and Romijn -- who, the source says, is
now "sporting a humongous diamond ring" -- hopped an early
morning flight to Los Angeles. "It looked like they hadn't slept
in a few days," says a passenger, who spotted them cuddling in
first class. "But they were glowing!"
Here is the
report from Vogue.co.uk:

REBECCA ROMIJN-STAMOS and Jerry O'Connell announced their engagement
on Monday this week. The news came on the day that would have been
the anniversary of the model's marriage to John Stamos, to whom she
was married for six years.

The 'X-Men' and 'Kangaroo Jack' familiars had been dating for a year.
Now that
all the pop-culture junkies out there have finally learned to drop
the "Stamos," Rebecca Romijn might be picking up a new third
name to plaster across movie posters: O'Connell.
The stunning
model/actress and her boyfriend of a year,
fellow actor Jerry O'Connell ("Kangaroo Jack") were engaged
over the weekend in New York.
"We
couldn't be happier and are looking forward to the next chapter of

No additional
details were immediately available from either of the actors' representatives.
The 32-year-old
Romijn, whose acting career has grown considerably in recent years
with roles in the "X-Men" films, "Femme Fatale"
and "The Punisher," was previously involved in a high-publicity
marriage (and equally high-publicity) divorce with "Full House"
actor John Stamos. O'Connell, who first gained prominence as a child
actor in the classic film "Stand by Me," will be embarking
on his first marriage at age 31.
The announcement
caps a busy 2005 for Romijn and her future husband, who recently wrapped
filming on the Ben Affleck drama "Man About Town." Their
professional careers have also crisscrossed in "The Alibi,"
a Steve Coogan-starring romantic comedy which has yet to be released.

Ready for Marriage No. 2
by Gina Serpe

Rebecca Romijn
and John Stamos couldn't make a full house. Now she's trying again
with a new beau.
The model-actress
and her boyfriend of a year and a half, actor Jerry O'Connell, are
engaged, Romijn's publicist, Lewis Kay, confirmed to E! News.
"We
couldn't be happier and are looking forward to the next chapter of
our lives," the obligatorily giddy couple announced in a joint
statement Tuesday. No wedding date has been set.
According
to Us Weekly, which first reported the engagement, O'Connell, 31,
popped the question over the weekend at his family's New York City
apartment, sealing the deal with "a humongous diamond ring."
The magazine
also quotes an unnamed source close to the couple saying Romijn, 32,
"is not pregnant." Baby rumors have dogged the couple for
months.
This will
be the second matrimonial go-round for Romijn and first for Crossing
Jordan star O'Connell.
The couple
met on the Vancouver set of the Ben Affleck romantic comedy Man About
Town in April 2004, just after Romijn's split from Stamos following
six years of marriage.
She finalized
her divorce from the former Full House star in March and reverted
back to her nonhyphenated maiden name.
The longtime
bachelor O'Connell, whose credits include Stand by Me and Sliders,
was previously in a longterm relationship with E! News anchor Giuliana
DePandi, with whom he was briefly engaged. He had also been publicly
linked with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The couple
are now back in Los Angeles for some heavy-duty wedding planning--and
their respective day jobs.
Aside from
sharing credits on Man About Town, which is slated to open in early
2006, and the indie romantic comedy The Alibi, due out this year,
each has several solo projects in the works.
Romijn is
reprising her role as the blue-hued, shape-shifting Mystique in the
X-Men 3, which is currently shooting. She is also set to star in the
WB's midseason replacement Pepper Dennis as the titular ambitious
reporter.
O'Connell,
meanwhile, has three films in the pipeline, including the computer-animated
feature Cat Tale, in which he provides voiceover work alongside Sean
Astin and David Cross. O'Connell returns as Detective Woody Hoyt for
Crossing Jordan's fifth season, kicking off next Monday on NBC.

Secret wedding?
By 24 hours news services
Model-turned-actress
Rebecca Romijn is heading back down the aisle - she's reportedly planning
a secret New Year's Eve wedding to actor Jerry O'Connell.
The star
started dating O'Connell shortly after she split with ex-husband John
Stamos, and now she's hoping to become Mrs. O'Connell as 2005 becomes
2006, reports sfgate.com.
Friends claim
the wedding is the real incentive behind Romijn's recent drastic weight
loss.
A source
says, "As far as she's concerned, it's just as well that everyone
thinks the movie ('X-Men 3') producers pressured her into losing the
weight.
"Since
they started planning the wedding, Rebecca realized she would have
to go through several fittings for her gown. She wanted to look her
best."
