CELEBRITY
DATE DISASTER
5/14/01
In the June/July
2001 issue of Cosmogirl, Jerry tells us about his date disaster:
"I was on
my first date with this girl, and another girl came up to me and started
yelling at me. She though I was my brother! But then
I had to explain to my date what on earth my brother could have done
to make a girl hate him so much. It was bad all around." -

DEBBIE
GIBSON'S DATE WITH JERRY
5/14/01
On April 17th
2001 Singer Debbie Gibson told Howard Stern a brief story about a date
she once had with Jerry O'Connell. She mentioned bowling with
Jerry and going out for Mexican Food. Here's a portion of the
transcript.
Debbie: We went to dinner. We went for like Mexican food or something. On the second floor of the
restaurant there was some rapper's album release party going on or something - so we like snuck in
there - we were the only white people in the place - very conspicuous"
Howard: "That's hot"
Debbie: (mockingly) 'Jerry O'Connell and Deborah Gibson'
And then um- Yeah - he drove me back to my place and he kind of was... you know, just wanting to
come in the front door.
Howard: That's what guys do!
Debbie: I know, but it was just a little tooooo...
Howard: He was too aggressive?
Debbie: I just was laughing, you know? I think - I have this phrase where I say I'm too old for this - but
I think I was born too old for that mentality.
Howard: Right
Debbie: You know what I mean?
Sam Kennison Impersonator: What are you a princess? Come on, Spread 'em!
(Deborah laughs)
Robin: (to Howard) Would you date Deborah Gibson?
Howard: Sure, I'd date Deborah Gibson, but I'd be pushy like Jerry O'Connell!
(Deb laughs)
Howard: I'm not gonna stand around and wine and dine!
Debbie: Take his advice though! Where'd it get him Howard? It got him kicked to the curb!
Howard: But, what did he say to you? When he got to the door and says, ' Hey come on baby lets go
inside and have - uh...'
Debbie: Basically yeah, 'you could have the best sex of your life with me' kind of thing. And I'm like!
(laughs)
Howard: (sounds disappointed in Jerry's move) Oh... That's not cool
Robin: ...he could give it to you now!
Howard: that ain't cool
Debbie: it just made me laugh
Howard: Yeah
Debbie: and he's a really nice guy
Howard: No he's not!
Debbie: No, he is - he's fine
"DOWN
AND UNDER" DIET

Jerry's Kid: Jerry O'Connell just may be moving onto the fast
track, thanks to Jerry Bruckheimer. The prolific producer has
cast O'Connell in his next comedy-action flick, Down and
Under. O'Connell and the very busy Anthony Anderson (Me,
Myself & Irene) star as New Yorkers who get stuck in Australia
doing a favor for the Mob. And because it's a Bruckheimer
production, O'Connell's hitting the gym like mad. "Can't you
see I'm getting buff for it?" he asks, stroking his already flat
stomach under a tight black tee. Does Bruckheimer demand a
hard body for his pictures? "Well, I have my shirt off for most of
the movie," O'Connell explains. "And yeah, Mr. B loves for his
actors to be a little svelte."
Also from E!
online:
(Feb 23, 2001)
finally... Jerry O'Connell's on an intense regimen of
two workout sessions a day and a diet of egg whites
and chicken breasts for his role in Jerry
Bruckheimer's comedy-actioner Down and Under,
with Anthony Anderson. "I didn't think it was
possible," he says, "but now I have an eight-pack."
The actor's training also includes a few days at
stunt-traffic school to learn "everything you're not supposed to do
when you're driving." O'Connell says he's good at driving bad--but
Anderson's worse. "I am definitely the better of the two, which is
weird, because I'm from New York and Anthony's from Compton. He
has been driving all his life." In the end, it won't matter, because
O'Connell won't do his own stunts on the Aussie set. "The stunt guys
look so much cooler doing them," he says. "Besides, it's perfect nap
time."
