on 'Fire' in pilots

Jerry O'Connell
("Tomcats," "Jerry Maguire") has agreed to fight
for NBC's
"RomeFire," while stage and screen veteran Blythe Danner
("Meet the Parents") is
heading over to CBS' "Presidio Med," as the networks continued
firming their pilot
plans Wednesday.
Here's the
latest:
O'Connell,
who has appeared in recent episodes of NBC drama "Crossing Jordan,"
has taken the role of Ryan Wheeler, one of four firefighter pals in
multicamera half-hour "RomeFire," to which NBC has committed
13 episodes. Thesp joins Jessica Capshaw, Stephen Dunham and David
Ramsey, who already have been cast as firefighters in a small town
called Romeo. Warner Bros. TV and NBC Studios are producing the project
that "Friends' " Greg Malins and Kevin S. Bright are writing-exec
producing and directing, respectively. O'Connell, Capshaw and Dunham
are repped by Endeavor.
O'Connell
told Daily Variety that there was one big reason behind his decision
to take the job: Malins. "Greg Malins, he's a stud when it comes
to half-hour. I had one meeting with him, and that was it. Not only
did I want to work with him, I want to be his best friend."
O'Connell
added that he thinks half-hour comedy "is really going to be
the best arena for me. … I grew up on it. In fact, I was raised by
three parents: Jack Tripper, Mrs. Garrett and Mr. Drummond."
According to
other entertainment sources, the show is called "Romeo Fire."

Greg Malins
the show creator and executive producer of Friends has spoken to E!Online
about the new series. He says: "I'm extremely happy at the progress
we've made and the state of the show. There were times when i thought
this show wasn't going to work, but we've shot the first few episodes
and it definitely works. The cast are all perfect and it really is
very funny. I can't wait to get this show on air and see what viewers
feel. I'm very happy with it and i think everyone will be too."

is set for a September start. NBC are not sure whether to enter it
into their Thursday Night or to choose a different night.

A couple
of weeks ago, Hot Stuff overheard Jerry O'Connell yelling into his
cellphone "I'm so single, it's not even funny!" Now the
Scream 2 star is off the market. O'Connell, 28, has hooked up
with Planet of the Ape's Estella Warren, 23, who stars with
him in the upcoming film Down and under.
WORLDLY ACTS EXTENDS ITS RUN

O'Connell is currently starring in "Worldly Acts" at the Tiffany
Theater in Los Angeles. The play was originally scheduled to close on
March 3rd, but according to Shari_Lynn you can still catch the play
through March 16th. Jerry appears in the final sketch "The Homecoming"
with Jennifer Grant. It's a hilarious comedy about a sailor returning
from W.W.II who mistakenly comes to the conclusion that his wife has
been moonlighting as a prostitute. For tickets call the Tiffany Theater

has recently been photographed at quite a few events in Los Angeles.
On February 27th he attended the BMG Grammy Awards after party at the
Argyle Hotel. He was seen out and about with costar Estella Warren at
the screening of "Chop Suey" on March 2nd at the Laemmle Fairfax
Theatre. They were also spotted singing at GQ Lounge's Karaoke Night

VIEW: Former "Sliders" star Jerry O'Connell candidly admits
that his initial motivation for wanting to do his Jan. 7 guesting
on NBC's "Crossing Jordan" was that the show's star, Jill
Hennessey, "is possibly the cutest woman on the planet. Sadly,
I found out she's married to a very muscular man, so I was on my best
behavior." Despite the fact that romantic sparks didn't fly between
him and Hennessy, O'Connell says they he had a ball doing the segment.
"I got to play a detective for the first time, which is every
little boy's dream come true. And Jill, who plays this serious medical
examiner, is hysterically funny. She could be on 'Absolutely Fabulous.'
Oh, my God, it was a giggle a minute. I'll come back for a few more."
